Moving Hammock
A suspended path • A sensory journey through the body.

Moving Hammock is the sensory path created by Paola Colonna, born from her personal research on listening to and expressing the body, developed over the years as a contemporary and contact dance dancer and choreographer.
An experience of relaxation and movement in suspension, where the body is welcomed by the hammock and guided through a dialogue made of contact, gravity, breath, and movement.
The session takes place in a calm and comfortable environment, inside a SPA or immersed in nature, where silence and environmental sounds become part of the experience.
The hammock supports the body, allowing you to experience a unique sensation of lightness and suspension.
In this state, the body can gradually surrender to the treatment, while personalized movements follow the body's energy lines and guide the motion in a fluid and rhythmic way.
Stimulation can occur through the fingertips, knuckles, palms, elbows, knees, back-to-back contact, and the tops of the feet, modulating pressure and intensity based on the position and needs of the person.
The treatment also integrates the use of Tibetan singing bowls, Pilates balls, and other tools, creating an alternation of vibrations, pressure, light touches, rocking, and stretching.
The result is an enveloping, continuous, and deeply sensory practice that extends to the entire surface of the body.

The body, supported by the hammock, can let go to the movement and rhythm of the treatment. Breathing slows down, tensions melt away, and the mind finds a space of stillness.
Moving Hammock is an invitation to pause, listen, and rediscover a different perception of oneself.
A decontracting and sensory journey that leads towards a feeling of lightness, relaxation, and renewed well-being.
Treatments are offered both in indoor, intimate, and completely quiet spaces, and in outdoor locations where nature can become an integral part of the path: the sound of waves, the wind through the trees, and the silence of the woods accompany the treatment and amplify the dimension of listening.
Moving Hammock is born first and foremost as an experience of relaxation and well-being, particularly suitable for those who wish to rediscover a space to pause and listen to their own body.
The combination of suspension, contact, and movement can promote:
-
deep relaxation;
-
the release of muscle tension;
-
greater body awareness;
-
a feeling of lightness and freedom of movement;
-
relaxation of the mind;
-
more conscious breathing;
-
a general feeling of balance and well-being.
Each treatment is customized, creating a different experience for every person.

Calling it a 'treat' or 'pamper' is an understatement, but it is certainly 'a comfort' against the daily struggles that life brings.
"An absolutely positive and loving experience."
"It was all very pleasant and relaxing, the hammock is enveloping, and the massage is very unique—I had never experienced it done this way before. The accompanying music helps clear the mind."
"Very pleasant, I had never experienced Tibetan singing bowls on the body—what a wonderful discovery! I also loved being suspended in the hammock and the hands-on contact with Paola to release tension in the back."
Paola Colonna
Creator of the Moving Hammock method

Paola Colonna’s professional journey stems from dance and a continuous research into listening, movement, and the expressive possibilities of the body.
She trained in classical and modern dance in Turin, where she founded the Rapatika company, before deepening her studies in contemporary dance and developing a personal path within body research and movement.
Over the years, she integrated the study of various disciplines dedicated to well-being and body awareness into her dance experience, including Shiatsu massage techniques, PEM – Paris Energy Method (of which she is a 2nd level practitioner), and Watsu® – 1st level.
From the blending of dance, movement, contact, and body listening, Moving Hammock was born—a personal method that develops the concept of suspension treatment as a sensory experience and a journey of relaxation.
THE BIRTH OF MOVING HAMMOCK
A personal way of working in suspension emerged from her experience in dance and body research.
Moving Hammock combines movement, contact, breath, and gravity into a fluid and sensory experience, where the body is supported by the hammock and guided towards a state of lightness and surrender.
A method born from experience and research, which continues to grow today in diverse settings: SPAs, hospitality facilities, natural environments, and private spaces.
RESEARCH

Training Paths
Moving Hammock
Entering into movement • Listening to the body • Learning to work in suspension.
Moving Hammock training paths are born with the aim of sharing the experience and research developed by Paola Colonna over the years.
They consist of intensive days and weekends dedicated to those who wish to approach the method, understand its principles, and directly experience working in suspension.
The training starts from experience: first listening, perceiving, and living the treatment, then learning how to conduct it.
Through practical exercises and moments of observation, Paola guides participants to discover the relationship between body, gravity, movement, contact, and breath.
During the course, participants directly experience the hammock, alternating between the role of the receiver and the role of the conductor.
The work allows participants to develop a greater sensitivity in listening to the body and in perceiving the weight, rhythm, and movement of the other person.
They explore gestures, pressure, light touches, rocking, traction, and stretching, learning to modulate contact and intensity in relation to the position and characteristics of the person.
Particular attention is dedicated to the fluidity of the gesture, the quality of contact, and the ability to guide the body without forcing it.
The use of the hammock thus becomes a tool to expand the perception of movement and create a deeper relationship between the conductor and the receiver.

THE PRACTICE
The training imparts the foundational principles of Moving Hammock, a result of Paola's experience in contemporary dance, contact dance, and body disciplines.
It is not just about learning a sequence of gestures, but about developing a way of observing, listening to, and guiding the body.
Each meeting thus becomes a space for practice and research, where technique intertwines with sensitivity, presence, and listening.
WHO IT IS FOR
The training is designed for movement professionals, wellness practitioners, dancers, teachers, and anyone who wishes to deepen their bodywork through the experience of suspension.
No specific background in dance is required: the path is built progressively through practice and direct experience.
A KNOWLEDGE TO BE LIVED
Every training session is an encounter.
A time dedicated to practice, listening, and sharing an experience developed in the body even before the technique.
